University Diploma in Animal Medicines Advice
Starting in September 2024, this first of its kind Diploma is the only formal post-registration qualification for RAMAs (SQPs).
The Diploma will allow candidates to build on their academic credits achieved during their RAMA/SQP training, and develop additional skills and knowledge to further enhance their expertise. The course comprises a range of modules for delegates to choose from:
- Reflective Practitioner (focusing on personal and professional development)
- Herd Health Planning
- Advanced SQP Practice (focusing on laboratory techniques, pharmacology, and more)
- Companion Animal Nutrition
- Farm Animal Nutrition
- Equine Nutrition
Feedback from the first intake of RAMAs for the new Diploma in Animal Medicines Advice has been excellent with students saying they are finding the course both informative and challenging. The next two modules to run from Spring 2025 are 'Farm Animal Nutrition' and 'Herd Health Planning'. Applications are to be received by Harper Adams by the 7 February 2025.
Each module is available for individual study as CPD if desired, without the requirement of completing the full Diploma. Upon successful completion, you'll earn the right to use the postnominals 'Dip AMA' in addition to your RAMA/SQP qualifications.
Note that for those wishing to go for the full Diploma (rather than just doing one or more modules as standalone study) then national policy is that all University academic credits (such as your original AMTRA qualifications) cannot be used as part of a further qualification after 7 years. We have an alternative approach for such people, and Harper Adams will provide more details on request.
