National SQP Week toolkit launches to support inaugural industry campaign

The National SQP Week toolkit is now live, giving Suitably Qualified Persons (SQPs) also known as Animal Medicines Advisors, employers and industry stakeholders a comprehensive package of resources to help them prepare for the first-ever National SQP Week, taking place from 5–12 June 2026.   

National SQP Week aims to shine a spotlight on the professionalism, expertise and public‑facing role of SQPs - also known as Animal Medicines Advisors - and to improve understanding of the in-depth training, qualification and regulation that underpins their work. The campaign has been developed following industry research by AMTRA highlighting the need for greater awareness of the SQP role among animal owners and across parts of the wider animal health profession. National SQP Week aims to ensure the scope of the SQP role is better understood and the support they are trained to provide to animals is better utilised by owners and other stakeholders across the industry. 

The toolkit has been developed collaboratively by the SQP profession’s three regulators — AMTRA, Vetpol and VetSkill — and is designed to make participation in the inaugural campaign as simple, effective and impactful as possible. It includes downloadable materials, practical activation ideas and clear guidance to support engagement across retail, veterinary practice and digital settings.  

From in‑store and in‑practice resources to social and digital communications assets, the toolkit equips organisations and individuals with helpful ways to raise awareness of the vital role SQPs play in safeguarding animal health and welfare across livestock, companion-animal and equine sectors. Stakeholders are encouraged to begin planning early to make the most of this national awareness week.
