Become an AMTRA RAMA - The process in summary
The standard process of becoming an AMTRA RAMA is administratively straight forward but it does require a significant commitment in terms of learning, simply follow the distinct stages set out below:
1. Enrol with AMTRA
Complete an enrolment form (On-line RAMA Enrolment STANDARD, On-line RAMA Enrolment VETERINARY NURSE, or a paper form to print and return) with the Appropriate Fee. We'll send you a Training Manual for you to study.
Optionally, book on a supportive training course
If you wish, you can also book on a supporting training course run by Harper Adams University, by BETA, or by an independent provider. If you book a supportive training course, you must still enrol directly with AMTRA.
Most people use the training manual from AMTRA, with support from their employer, but for those who don't have that employer support, or who want a bit of extra help, we recommend a training course as additional support in the learning journey.
2. Book an exam
Send us the exam booking form, and then sit the exam – good luck! If you book a course with one of the colleges, you must still book the exam directly with AMTRA.
3. Wait for your results
Your results can take up to 7 weeks after the exam. If you pass the necessary modules you will become an AMTRA RAMA (SQP), with the obligations and duties that entails.
That's it! The process in its essentials is simple, but please read the details.
